Go down this list honestly. One item might be a coincidence. Several together are a clear pattern.
- They avoid live video calls, or the camera never seems to work
- They got close very fast, with strong feelings early on
- They pushed to move you off the dating or social app onto a private chat quickly
- They have mentioned a « guaranteed » return, a can’t-lose investment, or a special crypto tip
- Their story often involves being far away: overseas work, the military, an offshore contract
- Every money request comes wrapped in urgency
- They discourage you from telling friends or family about them
If money is already involved. If you have sent funds or shared bank or card details, stop now and contact your bank using the number printed on your card or statement. The sooner they know, the more they may be able to do.
How to read your score
The important word above is « guaranteed ». No honest investment is guaranteed, and no real one needs to be kept secret or paid for in a hurry. If that box is ticked alongside pressure to move money, treat it as a scam until proven otherwise.

- Stop sending money or details, right now, even if a payment feels half-finished.
- Ask for a live video call and watch how they respond to a simple, reasonable request.
- Tell one person you trust what is going on and what you have been asked to do.
- If you have already paid, call your bank on its real number and explain what happened.
